My Neighbor Totoro follows the story of two young daughters (Satsuki and Mei) of a professor who have moved to the countryside to locate closer to their ailing mother in postwar Japan. Satsuki and Mei encounter a friendly forest spirit named Totoro along with his friends and embark on adventures with their new furry companions. Totoro and his friends are only visible to the eyes of a child and soon show their magical capabilities that mesmerize the girls. This film consistently ranks high on critics best films of all time lists and has received high praise for it’s heartwarming and sentimental story telling.
